HomeLab 2.0 Server Rack Assembly Log
Last night I started assembling my server equipment.
Thursday 10/13/2016
I planned for the server rack to go to the right of the computer that is on the floor. That computer is a Supermicro AMD build that is running everything in my house until I get the rack and servers assembled.
- Supermicro AMD motherboard
- AMD Opteron 6128
- 32 GBs of RAM
- LSI 9240-8i with 4 3TB WD RED Hard Drives RAID 5
- Synology 212j with 2 1TB Seagete Constellation Hard Drives in a RAID 1 (iSCSI target)

- A Tripp-Lite half rack in pieces
- A storage bin full of power and network cables
- Cisco UCS-240 Server
- Dual Intel E5-2620 v2 CPUs
- 64GB of RAM
- 400 GB SSD
- 2 600 GB 10K SAS Drives
- Supermicro 1U Server
- Dual Intel E5-2620 v2 CPUs
- 64GB of RAM
- 250 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD
- 3 1TB 7200K Seagate Constellation SAS Drives
- HP DL360 Gen 7 (i believe) server
- Dual Intel e5506 CPUs
- 24 GBs of RAM
- 3 146 15K SAS Drives
- Dell R610 Server
- Dual Intel e5620 Xeons
- 24 GBs of RAM
- 120GB SSD
- 1TB Seagate 10K SAS drive
- Cisco 2970 Switch
- Cisco 3750 Switch
- Dell N2048 Switch
After an hour or so of work here is where I’m at.

I have the rack built and all the 1U servers racked. So far I don’t have power or any networking configured, but that what this weekend is for.
